Why Run Joe Run?
Because there is no other choice. I am not content with the direction of our nation’s policies and actions. I am not happy about dumping trillions of dollars of debt upon the shoulders of my little grandchildren. I am not happy having a President who tells the world that America encourages the use of torture on prisoners. I am not happy that my President took our Nation to war in the wrong country in the name of protecting us against terrorism. I am not happy that our Nation’s policies have made us less safe from terrorism. I am not happy that our Nation’s policies are continuing to waste billions and billions of dollars that could be used in our country to build housing for Senior Citizens and the needy. I am not happy that the wasted billions result in our being unable to lessen the cost of a college or vocational education for our children and for adults who want to get better jobs in America. I am not happy that our President went to India to praise that country for educating their citizens one week after cutting our Nation’s college student grant and loan programs.
Why Run Joe Run? I am running because I refuse to tie myself to special interests which will only keep me from speaking freely about thoughts that are in my heart and my head. And I am running because at ten o’clock on a Saturday night, someone in Congress has to remember the interests of the men and women who are still working to try and support their families in our hotels, restaurants and driving our busses. I do not believe our Congress has been thinking about those persons during the past six years.
I choose to run.
